67 lower door panel molding??

Maybe you guys have found a solution for 66-67 lower trim?

I ordered new door panels from OPG that shipped with carpet lowers but don't include the molding strip that hides the carpet edge.

I discovered the prior owner used what seems to be all that's out there which is a 1/2", thin molding made out of aluminium often described as an "M" shape. This thing is tricky to tuck the carpet edge under and is short side to side.

I ordered new strips from Legendary as they looked wider from the pic but calling them, as now backordered for weeks, they said the strips are the same A-body 1/2" thin ones.

I though maybe using a 1" alum. carpet bar might work but the spacing between the holes is pretty far and may look wavy?

The originals are wide and not available on the planet. I'm looking for a proper carpet edge hide not period correct stuff. Anybody have a better idea what might work?

I haven't messed with the 1966-67 door panels yet. But there's several members here with used parts for sale. Could you re-use the trim off an old door panel? If you don't have the old ones and would like to give this a try create a parts wanted thread. I'm sure someone will come up with a set of core door panels.

Can you post a picture of your door panels? I just finished a set of 66 panels and reused the trim and it worked fine. The trim is just over a 1/2 inch, I have not seen anything wider. My panels are from PUI and the carpet tucks under the vinyl and the trim covers it just like the originals. As for the trim being short, yes it stops about 3/8 short on both ends of the panel.
I will try and get a picture for you tomorrow.

I think the original is like this pic but I'm not sure. I have sourced the thin stuff but it's backordered. The carpet lays on top of the vinyl but will check the new panels to see if it might tuck under.

Note: this is not my door but the trim is wide like several I've seen.

Door panel trim

I think you may be able to find what you want at legendary auto interiors. you can look at their catalog on line. try page 27 or 28 in the olds catalog.

I've got one piece of the thicker trim I removed from a junkyard car 15 years ago. Its not perfect it has a few marks from the seat belt buckle hitting it but it is pretty nice. I can get a picture if you are interested. $20 plus shipping?

bobfo1, Actually, I did order the trim from Legendary thinking it may be the fat stuff. Not so much, it's the typical "M" shaped strips that I'll make work with little room for error!

texxas: Hang onto that thing, it may be worth big $$? That size is impossible to find.

lunaboy, what the ?? Yeah, I may indeed be interested.
