Are seats interchangeable?
Have had thoughts of swapping my '69 off-white front bench seat for a pair of black buckets from a '68 and a replacement black rear bench from a '72. Would these just bolt in or would modifications be necessary?
Thanks! |

You need different seat mounts/slides going from bench to buckets. But the back seat should be a straight across swap as long as the donor is not a vert.

Hi,
The '68 seats will bolt in (after installing bucket seat mounts), but the seatback release is different than that on '69-'72 buckets. Also difficult to add headrests if you want them to the '68 seats. -Jon |

I would be interested in buying your front bench seat if you decide to do the conversion. I'm looking for one i can recover for my 68 Cutlass

The 71/72 bench seatbacks are a slightly different shape & internal design than the earlier ones- may be difficult to install the early covers on the two seatback peices.
Look for one that comes from a 70 or earlier car, and the 68 covers will install w/o a problem.
