68 Cutlass Rear Seat Removal

Trying to install new carpet in my 4-door holiday sedan 68 Cutlass Supreme. Tried looking in my repair manual on how to remove the rear seat but couldn't find it. I saw a video where they say push down and back but it wont budge. Is the hook in the center or on each side? Also for the front electric bench seat, it is just 4 bolts, correct?

Just remove the bolts that are in the floor brackets on the front seat and shove the seat belts through the seat base and back slot.. The rear seat has hooks that attach it to the floor, all you have to do is push down on the lower part of the seat spring and shove back and up. Then lift on the front of the seat and pull towards the front of the car.

Two hooks, one on each side, centered in that half of the seat.

Here's a pic of my car with the seats out. You can see the passengers side hook right at the edge of the carpet. Note the shape of the retainer - the thick wire on the lower front edge of the seat frame has to go back, up, then forward to come out of the retainer.

Thanks guys I was able to remove both seats today and I tossed out the old carpet. Need to order some new carpet. Should I be laying down some sound deadener and jute as well? I have the rubber section in the rear like yours but I am most likely going to toss that out as well. I see rubber kits for $200 which is out of my budget. Trying to do this the cheapest way possible. New carpet is around $130. I think original jute is $40 or so. Any suggestions?

I can tell you that the rear seat, right above the mufflers, gets damn hot w/o some sort of insulation/ pad/ sound deadener there.

First time I've seen your car naked Kenneth!

It's also a great shot to show the vent stand.
