If you're looking for the Hurst production number, [#65 of 1054, for example] I believe you'll have to call Hurst, as they did the conversions.
Don't know if they kept the #'s though.
The build sheet, usually under or behind the back seat, will give you quite a bit of information, too.

According to the VIN, this car was built in Lansing. There's been much discussion of build sheets on here, and it is known that, while workers at other assembly plants often left build sheets in the car, there were specific instructions given to the Lansing plants workers not to do so.

Unless someone disobeyed this directive, it's unlikely that a build sheet would be found in this car. Remember, they were never meant to be given to the final purchaser. They were just there to tell the workers what to put on each car as it went down the line. It's very useful if you can find it all these years later, but there's no guarantee you will, even if the car was built at some other plant.

1983 Hurst Olds Production Number

I am the original owner of a 1983 Hurst Olds. If you want to get the production sequence number contact the GM Heritage Center at gmhc@gm.com and ask them in writing for the number by giving them the VIN#. For $50 dollars you can also request and receive a copy of the original dealer's invoice for your car. They take credit cards, There is a form you fill out that gives all of the information. They do not reproduce window stickers for your car but there are other online companies that can. Utilizing the VIN# and the dealer invoice you can have a reprodcution window sticker made by one of those companies. The GM Heritage Center is located at 6400 Center Drive, Sterling Heights, Michigan 48312. Phone #

They respond promptly to email questions and requests. Good luck and let me know if you need any other information. By the way, my car was number 1293 in the production sequence of 1983 Hurst Oldsmobiles. Thanks.

Check it again. The first character is the number 1, not the capital letter I.

1 = U.S. built (alternative would be a 2 here, meaning Canadian built)
G = General Motors
3 = Oldsmobile
A = restraint system - non-passive/manual seat belts
K = series = Cutlass Calais
47 = body type = coupe, 2-door notchback special
9 = engine = 5-liter V-8 4-bbl
1 = check digit
D = 1983 model year
M = plant = Lansing, Michigan
387621 = production sequence number

I don't think the two are related. Did you try contacting anyone through the conversation above. I know it's old, with one thread going back to 2006, but it's worth a try.

The 387 starting sequence is kind of early. I'm guessing a December 82 build. But that's just it. A guess. 250-500 car number range. Again, stab in the dark.

But the numbers and VINs don't mate up anyway. A higher VIN car could have been driven into the conversion facility first and have a lower H/O conversion number. Weird crap all the time with these cars.
