69 h/o question

did the 69 h/o with air have a heat riser valve in the ex manifold? also would anyone know the center to center drive shaft length? thanks in advace.

I was just thinking the same thing the other day. Mine does not have it. But I do not kow if it should or not. If it is spose to have one .......I'm not sure if it would work? Then again maybe it could?

it should have one. I have the benefit of seeing a senior preservation winner car darn near anytime I want. I've even taken it down the strip at the Pure Stock Drags. It's an a/c car and has the heat riser for those curious. If it's the Jeff I think you are referring to, he knows this car too

the W/Z, 69 was the only year the driver side had the heat riser valve. the 70-72 did not have it. other than that the W/Z manifolds are the same.

Does this also mean that the 68 H/O with AC should also have this heat riser? Same as 69 H/O? It doesn't look like it would fit with AC bracketry in the way.

'68 442s with AC have a snorkel that points more toward the front of the car to clear the AC brackets. But the '68 H/O has a much different air cleaner. Never the less, the '68 *should* still have a "stove pipe", but someone that knows for sure would have to confirm that.

The 68 and 69 big block a-bodies (442, H/O, and Vista) had (almost) completely different heat riser assemblies by year to go along with the different manifolds they used.

The 68 assembly had a common shroud all the way around the exhaust manifold, a common stove pipe and a different second adapter depending on whether it had a/c or not. While the W30 and H/O had a different air cleaner, they shared the whole riser assembly with the 442 (and a/c vs. non-a/c).

For 69, there was a completely different (simpler) shroud and then a single pipe (except for the W30/W32 cars which had a unique stove pipe and the same second adapter used on the 68s). For 69, the H/O used the same setup as a regular 442.
