Correct Carb for 68 442 4 speed car
How can I find what the correct carb should be for my car? It has an Edelbrock on it now and I'm pretty sure that's not the correct carb. I think it also has the wrong air cleaner, is it supposed to be red?

as long as it's not a 400 c.i.d w-30 car, the carb. number should be 7028253.
edelbrock's were never used by the factory. bill

The W-31 was a 350 motor. The big block was the W-30.

Correct 442 Carb?
Thanks guys, that should help me find at the least a rebuildable core and maybe one that's already rebuilt. How do I tell which engine my car has? I'm sorry to be such a dope about this car, but I don't know squat about it.
My son bought it at an auction and gave it to me. It's a nice car, interior, paint, wheels etc. are all very nice, but I really don't even know what I have. It's a post car with dark green paint, a white vinyl top, white interior, bench seat and 4 speed. Runs real nice, sounds great and drives nice too, I just don't know where to look for VIN numbers and if I did know where to look wouldn't know what they mean. Click here to get the location of the vin pad. The picture below is a big block. The small block will have a casting Number instead of a Letter on the lower left head.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...es/Head_ID.jpg See where it states 39M123456. The 3 means olds division The 9 means 1969 M means it was assembled at Lansing MI plant. The other six numbers are the vehicle serial number which should match the cars vin.....IF its the original engine. Let us know what block number you have located above the timing chain shelf and we'll go from there. Oh...and if you could locate the cowl tag, give us that info. Somebody here can decode that for you.
