73 Cutlass with bad resistor: Help.

I'm looking for a blower motor resistor for my Cutlass. It works on high, but has no adjustability just stays on high . Anybody know where I can find one? I found the connector at Rock Auto, but can't seem to track down a resistor for 73 350 4b with a/c. It's got 5 prongs and a diode.

You might try this guy. I had great luck with him getting an obscure part for my '67 Delta 88 that I thought I would never find.

If he can't help and you have no other luck, you may have to find a junkyard car and get the resistor off of it.

Back to basics. How do you know the resistor is bad? It would be unusual for all parts of the resistor to fail. More likely would be a problem in the wire feeding the resistor, and a new resistor won't fix that. Also, is this an A/C car or not? A/C cars feed the blower high speed on a completely separate circuit from the other speeds, again suggesting a fault in the one wire that is common to those speeds. You might want to do a little troubleshooting before throwing money at parts you may not need. If you do have money to throw away, I'd be happy to send you my address.

Yes, it has A/C. And I tested the resistor and seemed ok (I'm no expert), but the diode hasn't been checked yet. I'll do that tonight. The connector is in sad shape so that will come first, but I wanted to find a resistor just in case. Jaunty thanks for that lead I sent them an email.
