I just got sick!

I found this on another site, hope it is/was an April Fool's joke.

Read all the way to the very end. You probably had to go through up after you started reading. All I will say is "they got you".

Well if it was true, Toyota wouldn't think all the money they'll make is a joke

The orginal artical didn't say "April Fools" and it was written in March

There was an original article in March? I saw a copy on another forum that had the April Fool's slogan at the end; to that, I would have replied "Remember the Alamo!" (yes, I was from Texas until fairly recently). Certainly, if the information given in the article were true, wouldn't there have been widespread publicity about it? I remember when the Oldsmobile phase-out went on public record in December 2000 very well; there was a lot of publicity, and a great deal of mourning, along with it.

I read that article back on April 1st and I was curious about how the patents work. So I went to the U.S. patent and trademarks site and looked around. I found that GM still owns the name and all the rights to any products bearing the name since 1900, they keep renewing it regularly. I did a search and found the Olds "Rocket" engine name copyright has expired or dead in their terms, I guess it wouldn't mean much if you can't use Olds in front of it. GM should have copyrighted the Skyroof (Vista Cruiser roof) name, a sunroof company in Florida owns it now and sues everybody that uses it, got some major settlements from big companies. You think their legal people would find out about copyrights before using a name for a product or feature?
