Did Olds have this option???

For some bizarre reason I woke up thinking about riding to high school in my friends 65 [I think] GTO. I remember a small box under the dash right at the emergency brake release. If memory serves me correctly it had cards in it and at certain milage a card would pop out saying "change oil" or what ever.

Anyone know what I'm talking about and did Olds ever have this maintenance box option?

I know Oldsmobiles in the early 90s had a box under the passenger's side dash that had a button that you dpressed with a pencil every time you had your oil changed. It would then illuminate the "change oil soon" light in about 3500 miles. It was a nice feature that I wish my wife's VW had.

Used to see those things on a lot of cars. Sometimes the dealer would install it, sometimes the garage who serviced the car. They'd stick it on the dash somewhere with a reminder card for oil change or other service. It always had the dealer or garage name, address and phone # hot-stamped on it.

Sometimes they'd be mounted low like Jamesbo's talking about, but seems most 64 big cars got it stuck right over top of the steering column and removing it would lift the silver paint on the trim piece.

preceive
Wouldn't that be omitted since the "ei" comes after "c"?

This site gets better and better every time I come over to it. The over use of 'green' (whoa man, that's deep) smiley guy also makes me happy every time.
