My new car show strategy

I've been to a few shows since the car has been together but even though spectators are non stop talking to me about my car judges don't bother really looking any more once they see the paint.

Tonight I was at a pretty big monthy show of about 300 cars. I was running late and did not get there until after dark. The parking lot lights hid a lot of imperfections and the judges accually looked at my car this time. They noticed a lot of details and I got the trophy for my class modifed 60's car.

From now on no day time shows

Saw this one last night. Tri power, 4 speed. Original owner. His son painted it in '93. Georgeous. Sunset is the best time to take pics. The colors come out or something but not the imperfections. Yours has original paint, right? I can't see anymore anyway so I get your point of judging after sunset. My Olds was one three in a field of 60 or so cars. Keep your cars guys, everybody has a Chebby. Congrats on the trophy.

Seen yours and this 66' at the Homer Cruise, you missed the light blue 70' 442 and a handful of 50's Oldsmobile's. How about that Starfire convertable down the same line as this one. Yours was nice

Congrats, Richard! Post a pic of that trophy...
What show was that?

Sounds like a new strategy for me as well. I wont even enter any more shows until I get the front door panels replaced as they look like trash compared to the rest of the interior. She also needs her own wheels back on...

Your CAR is the real trophy...don't sweat what some car show judges think of it (I suspect you really don't).

I don't really care. It was just nice to see them really take notice of the car. There were 2 guys and one had kind of glanced and was leaving as the other one was looking under the hood with the light and waved the other one back over. They started looking under it and seeing a lot of details that make the car.

I understand. The way I figure it, when someone appreciates my car, its more of a positive reflection on their own good taste.

Richard, any suggestions for my Vista....went to a local show today(my first show not counting Nationals), and they weren't sure what to do with it! Obviously, the only Vista, as well as the only wagon out of 100 cars. Ended up putting me in a class with a '64 1/2 mustang vert, '61 rambler vert etc, you get the picture! My misfit didn't have a chance! Oh well, it definitely got more attention than the rest of the cars in my class combined! If it was a people's choice, I would have been good!

Just enjoy the conversation it brings. Wagons are only 2nd to convertibles when it comes to best body style

Thanks....Christian Cruisers 3rd saturday car show in NRH. By far the best monthly show in DFW. Well worth the drive over there. Always 250-300 cars

Congrats Richard. Even though we don't need people to tell us our car is nice, it's still fun when they notice the efforts you took in building it.

Now it will take Richard longer to get ready for a car show. Not only will he have to wash and shine his Olds he will have to polish the trophy as well.

when I show my car I have a "Do Not Touch" sign where I've marked out the "Not".

I let people sit in it and start it up for them. I love parking next to high rollers and getting more looks ...

I did get a "Best Daily Driver" trophy at The Barris show in Culver City ...

Congrats on the trophy. My next door neighber hits all the shows in this area. You might have seen his car. It is a white 61 Impala convert. It has red and white interior with American Racing mag wheels.
