Vacuum hoses 1958 super 88

I want to get the heat on my 1958 super 88 going again. Got the service manual and have been following diagram. I'll try to attach diagram. But there is one tube that just trails off and the diagram does say where it goes. I assume it's to the vacuum pump but not sure if I should hook it to intake or out on vacuum pump. Any vacuum what I need to due?

It looks like that one hose that disappears in the diagram goes to the fuel pump for vacuum

Thanks, still confused though. The fuel pump does have a vacuum booster pump on top. I assume the hose hooks to intake on the pump (don't know what to do with intake either) but manual says the pump only runs if engine vacuum isn't enough. Is there another spot on engine vacuum comes from?

I've never had a 58 but doesn't the heater turn on mechanically with a pull and cable that attaches to the Ranco valve? They may have changed from 55 though to something different... Tedd

In 1957 A/C & heater controls changed from mechanical to vacuum. The line you refer to is the vacuum source for the controls. It should attach via a "T" connection to the line from the vacuum booster on the fuel pump to the vacuum windshield wiper motor. In that way it will benefit from the boost provided by the pump during times of heavy acceleration. The other end of the vacuum booster on the fuel pump goes to the intake manifold via the throttle body of the carburetor.
