Matching numbers

Just thought I would post what number matching is in one post. Never had one until this car.....engine stamp pad, vin plate,door tag and cowl...👍

Fyi

You are missing the VIN stamp on the trans.

Where is the vin # on the Trans. I had a plate on mine but didn't notice a vin #. It was the correct TH400 for the car.

On a flat spot just above the pan rail, approximate center of the transmission, left side. May be partially obstructed by the linkage.

Matching #'s means different things to different people. Some people take it a step further to include casting #'s & date codes on parts with no VIN stamp

The frame has a VIN stamp also but is very difficult to find with the body on.

Where are the numbers on the Chassis, body is coming off 442 again. It's just a shell now. Once the Cutlass repairs are done the 442 comes home. I'll have to search for my post and get some pics up. It's amazing how the cycle hasn't changed in the last 30 years. Either you have time and no money or money and no time.
