Kill switch

Hello all,

Unfortuneatly my buddys 66 pontiac bonneville was stolen over the weekend from his garage and that really has me thinking about added security for my olds cutlass. Of coarse if thieves want your car bad enough they're going to get it but I plan on making them work for mines.
Can anyone tell me how to install a kill switch on my 72 olds cutlass supreme?I'm going to be using a toggle switch hidden under the dash and I am unsure how to run the wires. I have a voltage regulator and a hei ignition.
My buddy had one on his but forgot to flip the switch on friday night and since it's a pontiac i'm not sure if it's the same wiring technique.

A kill switch would be a good idea. The best bet would be to just put a switch in series with your 12V going to your coil. That way you would have to flip the switch before you turned the key. Otherwise it would crank but would never kick over because it would have no spark.

I hope your friend gets his Pontiac back soon. Oldsguy had a 76 Cutlass stolen years ago and the police never found it. Well, they did but then somone at the city stole it again. Sad story! We have our fingers crossed for your friend.

You could also put a battery disconnect on the battery terminal. This would only slow the thieves down though, as they would find a way to pop the hood pretty quickly by defeating the cable type release mechanism. If you use the method Jesse mentioned, find a way to hide the switch. I don't know if they make them or not but a cool way to do it would be to have a push/pull switch camoflaged (sp?) under the cigarette lighter button. Push to connect, pull to dis-connect.

Great! Both of those are really good suggestions.I'm going to do that tomorrow.My buddy's Pontiac was found but not in the greatest condition.He's going to start over from scratch and bring it back to life.I forgot to mention that he also is a oldsmobile guy.He has a 81 cutlass supreme that he just put a brand new motor in.

On another note I finally installed my headers and added dual electric fans.I will post pics soon.

How are your fans operated, by a switch or by a thermostat or both?
