Wiring Harnesses-who makes them?

My son (12) and I are currently in the process of rebuilding a 62 F85 Cutlass convertible. We are taking it down to bare metal and rebuilding the whole vehicle. Every time we pull a wiring harness connector, the plastic breaks. Since it is a 62 and not much aftermarket is available, do we rebuild the harnesses ourselves, if anyone knows of a source that demonstrates this, or do we find someone who can rebuild the harnesses?

You can get an aftermarket wiring harness from companies like Painless and EZ Wiring. I've only heard good things about their products.

You can try these guys. They provided me with the stuff for my 70. I know it's not the same thing, but I bet they can work with you.

M&H has or will make the complete harnesses if you want to go that route.

Rhode Island has the connectors and housings for Packard 56, wire with the tracer colors too.
If you search around you can find other places with the stuff.

Thanks BLUEVISTA- The links were very helpful. I will also check out NAPA for connectors. Looks like I will check over the complete harness and possibly just replace connections if the wires seem good. Thanks-

I had a Painless harness installed into my 1978 Protouring Z28.
I couldn't do it myself......it was just too daunting for me to do back in 1997.

NOW I'm installing an American Autowire Highway 22 kit.
I highly recommend their products. They make Classic Update kits too
but you would have to call and verify they have one for your Olds.
The highway 22 kit has labeling on the wires the entire length of EACH wire.
Plus they give you almost EVERY major connector you need with the kit.
Customer service is phenomenal.

Each kit is broken into 6 sections for ease of install for even a wiring newbie.
(Like myself)
