HowTo: 5.75" SAE headlight upgrade to Hella H1
#41
What a detailed and informative thread. Great Work!!!
I would definitely like to do one of these headlight upgrades to my Toronado. It still has all four of the original T3 headlights, which are not the best for night driving. I really love the stylish looks that are available with these H4 headlight conversion kits. However, I am still a little confused on what kit I should buy. I probably should just buy some new bulbs for now and study this more.

Nice. I'm just about to do this changeover to H4, H1 lights for aussie rego.
Thanks Nop.
I didnt have to cut out the back of the lens holders/cups, fits with clearance. I will use your wiring for relays as a guide tho. I'm putting the relays on the existing bracket with the original relays, bolted to the evaporator housing. Lights are Taiwanese glass lenses, aussie standards approved.

Changed my lights ('67 Olds CS) with the wiring kit and new beams (hi and Lo) from Daniel Stern Lighting. Tremendous difference.! and a very interesting look to the front of the car. Pricy but well worth the investment.
Had to adapt the buckets for clearance, run new wires and relays...all heavy duty, but not a great big deal. His web sight gives lots of information regarding the available upgrades. Upgrade --not move laterally !
