I know the stock size is 215/70/15, but I want to know if I could get 275/60/15 on the rear with 15x7 inch Olds rally rims.

I know the tires will fit the rims width wise, but I'm looking for a tire that isn't too heavy (these are 29 lbs a piece) and will fit inside that tire well.

It would look sweet too

I have 235s on mine, and there's still a good inch of space to play with.

With this info. I figure that 255/70/15 are the biggest size that will fit on the rear.

The 275/60/15's are too wide. at 11.2 inches they will rub, the other size is 10.2 inches and just shy of an inch wider than the 235/70/15's

At 28.9 inches tall, all I can say is OOOOOOOOOO

 

So are you putting the 255s on your car? Take a picture before and after. Let us know how AWSOME it looks.

 

Get rim width suggestion from tire manufacturer for that size tire....If the rim is not wide enough the tires will be rounded and full tread may not contact the road which defeats the benefit of a wider tire....something to check before buying tires.

Already did that. The min rim width for the 255 tire is 6.5 inches, the rim is 7"

Def will do a before and after right now I have 235/60/14's

I got the 15" Olds rallys for $150, but they have to be redone. I think it's $55 a rim at the shop I use. Powercoated of course

Please excuse my bad English, I'm a 26year old exchange student from Germany and I just arrived in Oregon.

I bought an 1885 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale and I need 4 new tires.

Currently there are 235/70/R15 rear-wheels and 205/70/R15 front-wheels mounted on the car.

I found four cheap 225/75/R15 tires on Craigslist. Can I use them on the front axle without problems or are they too big? Will they scratch and grind in the wheelhouse?

Do you know which tire size I can use with the standard 15" rims (steel)

Andy, 215/75R15 or 225/75R15 are the standard tire sizes for 1985 Delta 88 and will work fine. I have 225s on my 1983 Custom Cruiser (Delta 88 station wagon).

Your Delta is rear wheel drive, correct?

Can somebody tell me which lug pattern my 1985 Olds Delta 88 Royale with the 307 Code Y engine has?

I found many different sizes like 5x5" or 5x4,75" but I don't which one is the right?

5x4.75 is the bolt pattern, the 5x5 bolt pattern is for the wagons

 

5x5 was also used on Deltas with the HD brakes and taxi/police package. Basically, if the car has 11" rotors, it has 5x4.75. If it has 12" rotors, it has 5x5.

This calculator will help you out when it comes to comparing tire size's. I've found it to be very helpful when sizing my tires. Then you need to go to the manufacturerers recommended wheel size to see what the recommended wheel width should be for that particular tire. Remember a P275-60-15 has different tread widths from 1 manufacturer to another. Rim width will affect sidewall bulge. Ive had very good luck running a P275-60-15 BFG on a 7.5 inch wide rim.
