New to Olds

Hello, My name is Allan and I have just inherited my grandmothers 72 Delta 88 coupe. This car is SWEET, 91000 and all orginial. Plus, being my grandmother was an accountant, she kept ALL the repair paperwork for the car in a nice and neat folder.

I am needing to freshing her up, she is not in need of a restoration due to the fact she was a grocery getter and was kept up with maintance. Is there anywhere that is providing parts for the 88s?

Thanks!

Welcome to our site Allan, unfortunately there aren't too many places that specialize in the B bodies, no place specific that I can think of. You might check with Kanter Olds or Fusick Olds but they both lean toward the older stuff.

Thanks for the websites. Looks like I can get the things I need, I am lucky it is a pretty short list.

If you are missing widgets and gizmos in the interior then you might have to search salvage yards. This is a valuable tool that I have used before.

I have also ordered from Fusick and Kanter before. They have decent prices (since the stuff is so hard to come by) and excellent customer service.

One good thing, if you can simply call it that, is that the car is COMPLETE! All the pieces are there, and many of them are in such good shape that it is not worth the hassel of refinishing them. Aside from some rock chips, the paint is great. All I am needing is a few worn out items for the interior, some engine paint and she is good to go.

Now, she is a one wheel wonder, so I am gonna change out the rear end differential for a posi unit. I will most likely install a 3:40ish rear end to keep her drivable. I also plan on upgrading the exhaust/headers and install a 4 barrell carb.

Now here is the tricky part, I am looking for an orgininal intake and Qjet for her to keep her originial. Anyone got one?

Pics will be coming soon, my camera is in the shop.

Welcome to the Olds family, but better yet, welcome to the "B" bodies

The engine should be very easy to get parts for. I can get parts for the 68 350 very easy, plus since all the SBOs are externally the same... well you'll learn that in time.

Other parts, you can get them, but it takes a lot of searching. eBay can also be your friend here

Hi Allan,
I'm sure that you will find that there's lots of available parts. Lots of us don't really like to mention Ebay in our threads (aka evilbay) but they do have some really legit posts with parts you may be looking for. Best of all, the parts may be OEM and in pristine condition. set up a search for 1971 and 1972 Olds Delta 88. You'd be surprised what you can find. It may take time to eventually find some parts. It's a lot like going to the wreckers. You have go check regularly because they rotate stock.

Like the other guys have said, there is limited aftermarket supply for B Body. Fusick Automotive might have some. Here's the link to their current B Body Catalogue. http://www.fusick.com/catfile/Catalo...Layout%201.pdf
As far as carb parts, there's lots of places that can rebuild. I am assuming that you don't have a carb yet. I bought a qjet from http://www.carburetor.ca/carbs/HTML/about.htm 2 years ago. It was a 7042250 fully restored 4bbl for my 72 Cutlass. The guys name is Rusty Petrovic. His pricing was incredible (200.00 for a full restored). Mind you he's in Canada. Met him again at a local swap meet and the guy is totally professional and all class. Takes real pride in his work.

Don't forget that if you change your carb, you also have to change your air cleaner assembly. The one for a 2 bbl is completely different and won't fit over a qjet.

Post Additional B-body parts supplier recommendation

I additionally recommend USA Parts Supply, which has several specializations, including Full-sized Olds: http://www.usapartssupply.com/

They have a downloadable text catalog on their web site, but I recommend you have them send you a paper catalog before you try to order anything from them. The online version lacks pictures and is sparsely formatted.
