Question ID: Mystery gauge on dash

I was window shopping some cars on eBay, and found this picture of the interior of a 1966 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88:

Where I would have expected a clock, it shows a different gauge. Unfortunately I can't quite make out the label. If I had to guess, I would say it is a "performance gauge", which indicates vacuum, but the Service Manual only mentions that gauge in relation to console mounting, not dash mounting. Also, it says that the performance gauge has green-colored and yellow-colored sections, and the gauge in the picture has no color.

Does anyone know what that gauge is, and was it a factory option?

FYI, the car's auction page is here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=110214475300

Wow, that sure looks nice for an aftermarket gauge. It looks like it belongs, IMHO.

If I could find something that fits that nicely, I might consider replacing my non-functioning clock.

That does look really nice. What does the gauge say? It is hard to read. Maybe it is a voltmeter...

Appears to be an electric water temperature gage. I think it's probably larger than 2" too. I expect that was a fairly easy install working from back side of the clock blank-off. The center tit would have made a good pilot hole for a holesaw.
