Will a 73-77 Cutlass rear end bolt into a 65 Cutlass

I've seen several posts about how a 64-67 A body rear end will bolt into a 68-72 A body and vice versa. With the main difference being the 68-72 rear end is 1" wider per side. Any chance the 73-77 Cutlass A body rear end will bolt in to a 65 Cutlass? Are the control arm mounts in a different location? Is that rear end even wider? Just wondering because I might have a line on an aftermarket Ford 9" rear end, but it is set up for a 73-77 A body.

Thanks Dave. Heck, I even had a 1973 Olds 442 (back in 1973!), but I didn't remember the shocks being mounted in a different location.

Even more than that is different
Drive shaft will need a cutting
Upper control ARM bushing mounts are in a totally different cast location
Spring perches are in a different location
whole rear is way wider...
Shall we keep going.

Sorry there are better options than this one out there.

Good luck on the hunt.

Welcome. I moved your post to it's own thread, as the original thread you responded to was about axles to fit a 65. You'll get better response with your own thread (though since Jim has already answered, that's about the best you'll get). Good luck and post some photos of your car as an intro.
