i just purchased a 1986 cutlass, and i wanted to know if a rear from an 80's model camaro will work in this car.

The suspension design is completely different. The housing won't bolt up.

rears

Not to mention a totally different size ring and pinion...UNLESS you have a 442 or a GN rear under your car then the guts from that rear will bolt right in. 1970-1980 rears were 10 bolt 8.5 corp rears still used today under 1/2 ton trucks and SUVs. 1990 and newer are 30 spline and the 1999 and newer trucks have bigger carrier bearing now too. BUT all the gears will interchange. Jim
