guys.... i have question about the gear oil, what oil you think can i use, the only brand that i found quickly here in germany was from valvoline: 75/90 80/90 or 80/140 (with slip additiv) or maybe another brand???? I will use the car(65 olds conv.455 cui) for a weekend cruiser only in the summer with a lil tire fire action..... the gears are from richmond 3.42:1 with a overhault auburn posi. best regards denis |

Oil reccommendations
Well Denis, That Auburn unit must have limited slip additive for sure. If it is aftermarket Auburn bought with in the last 4 years you should use there additive ...because they will not warrenty it if you use any other.
Any of the gear oil is fine EXCEPT SYNTHETIC. friction limited slip units are found not to work as effeicently with the syn fluid. Too slippery makes the clutches and cones slip too much causing actally more heat and wear. So use any good mineral base Gear fluid with a Limited Slip Additive and you will be good for a while. Ok?
