1970 Cutlass 8.5 10 bolt rear question
Hello fellow Olds enthusiasts, I am a new member in search of information regarding the interchangability of my differential. The axle housing code is
SA B267 1
12 bolt cover
10 bolt ring gear with 3/4 hex & LH bolt
Pinion shaft Dia. 1.625 / 30 Spline
Axle is 28 Spline

So....what exactly are you asking? If you want to put stuff from a different axle in this housing, it won't work.
I have heard of using ford 8.8 carriers and gears, but that requires some modification I believe.
Monza is the man to ask about that.

That is an O-Type 12 bolt (12 bolt cover, 10 bolt ring gear) that was used exclusively by Oldsmobile from 1967-1970. None of the internals except the clutches for the LSD differential are interchangeable with other rears. Gear sets are very limited, as are posi (LSD) differentials.
The entire rear from any 68-72 GM A-Body car will interchange:
Chevrolet Malibu, Chevelle, El Camino, Monte Carlo
Buick Skylark. GS
Pontiac Tempest. LeMans, GTO, Gran Prix
None of the parts from these rearends will work in the O-Type, though.

Thank you for the help. I was going to try a dif. from a 77 Trans Am, but I realize that will not work.
