he wants 1500 an he told me he did try to start it an said it turns over but slow?

what would you make of this?

 

Personally, I think you could do better for the money. Give it time and keep looking. that unit needs a ton of work. I just saw one listed that was running,granted a 350 chubby, but recently built with a th 350 clean guts( no rips, tears or noticeable problems. and a solid body with nice paint for an extra $500. For a couple grand extra I think there is a clean hurst posted on this site, but would have to check to confirm. IMHO you would be throwing good money after bad on that one.

 

Run, don't walk, away. Flood damage means you will easily spend twice what the car is worth. Corroded electrical connectors, hidden rust at body seams, rebuilt engine, trans, and rear axle. That is now a parts car.

 

Looks like it was driven into a lake. Look at the cluster.

This car is good for the wheels, some sheet metal considering the rust and trim. It is unfortunate since it could have been a pretty nice car before the water damage. Joe is correct in that it will rust in the body seams, the electrical connectors will corrode and all the bearings will fail including the ones in the rear. It is probably worth about what is bid on it. Run hard and fast in the other direction.

 

Spend the $7.99 for the salvage report, and report what you find out here. Fresh water and salt water makes a big difference on what happens to a car. You know of course all of the wiring Gauges, seats, interior,e engine, and tranny are shot but the body for the right price might be a good starting point if you have the time and the talant.

as long as the clone thing is out in the open, and they are asking a price that reflects "clone" vs the real deal, aint nothin wrong with em. The thing I like about clones is that you are not ruining a piece of history when you make it your own. some people with more ego and money than sense seem to think they have to have the rare ones to start their projects. so they cut this ss/gto/442/ what ever apart to tub it out or something. Seen that too many times Just a thought.
