Dual Shifter

Anyone know where I can pick up one of these dual shifters and console for an 85 Cutlass? Or is that a triple shifter? What is it called?

I don't think they're available aftermarket, so the only place to get one would be a wrecked 1983-84 Hurts/Olds

Isn't that the "his & her's" shifter? There was a post about that a week or two ago. I get mixed up with all of these goofy A body accessories.

Oh!

Looks sort of the same to me. A shiny piece of metal coming out of the floor board with a black knob on the top. Never saw one of those on a 98. At least not any self respecting 98.

Ok now go to the store and get some glasses Like 6.5X and look again. One pic has two chrome handles mine has one

2= Lightening rod shifter from an 83/84 H/O
1= dual gate. from a 69 H/O

p.s. 83 is a "G" not and "A" body

But your still a good guy.

The famous Lightning Rod shifter, no doubt...

Originally made by Hurst (now Mr. Gasket) and unavailable as a repro. Hard to find in wrecks, as they are not common and are often picked fast, if the wrecked car even makes it to the yard with it.

Mr. Gasket can still repair your originals but they do not sell them.

See this link for more info:

You should sub to the Olds Gmail list...
It would be very helpful for you and your project.

The original Hurst Lightning Rods were individual stick shifters for the Lenco clutchless manual trans used in Pro Stock racing. Hurst created a "lookalike" automatic shifter that was first released as an aftermarket shifter in 1982. See the attached magazine ad. The 1983 and 1984 H/Os used a version of this automatic shifter as a tie-in to Warren Johnson's H/O Pro Stock race car (which used the manual trans version).

That shifter is something. Do those models have a drag chute to tie in with Warren Johnson too? I made one for my bicycle when I was 10.

Price sounds about right (for 'driver' condition)...
These things are getting hard to find, there are no repros, and lots of people want them...

I remember laughing about these shifters they were putting in these really slow Cutlasses to get them to seem sporty and fast. They were dogs and we knew it. At the time I was running a small block in a Chevelle(69). We would fry these guys and their Lencos. Now I think they're kinda neat.
