Emmission contols/switches
I am hoping some might direct me to a source for some new thermal switches. I have rebuilt the motor and am looking to replace all the other bits and pieces. I've spent hours on the net. I have everthing but these items. I know they are common to many GM motors. Even if someone know were I could find the part numbers it would help.
I have a 403 cu.in. motor. I am requiring: CTVS-Choke Thermal vacuum switch. goes in the air clear (not the TAC) DTVS- Distributor thermal vacuum switch. (manifold vacuum, not ported) VRV- Vacuum reducer valve EGR-VDV. EGR vacuum delay valve. Thanks for helping Regards,Mike Last edited by Mike 77 : 11-09-2007 at 08:46 PM. |

You should also check out your local auto parts store. Like you said, these are common to most GM cars and they might be able to get ahold of them for you. Just make sure you talk to a parts guy that knows what he is talking about. I have had problems at my favorite auto parts store in the past when a pimple faced kid is working the counter. You might also check out the following website if the dealerships or auto parts stores don't work.

I found a plug for the kickdown solenoid on the TH400 at a former Olds (now cadillac) dealership, about $3.00. A very nice find.

Yeah, that is basically what it is except for the addition of the white "plastic" plug part. I was very proud of myself for finding it, grinned like the Cheshire cat all day long....

The old one on mine was a T prong looking thing with a boot over it. I looked all over for a replacement, none. Most auto electric shops had no clue what it was. Actually it was one peice molded.

I saw a Thermal Vacuum Switch (TVS) on Ebay just a day or two ago. I had looked all over for the tranny connector for the kickdown on the TH400 on my Chevy truck and apparently no one makes it. But when I got a new engine harness for my '72 Olds, it had a wire with this connector on it that is not used for my car. Maybe I will transplant it to my truck. Chumley

Looks like I found most of what I am looking for. Thanks to all who posted.
I bought a 8-track AM/FM off e-bay. $26.00 good shape. So I get taking to the guy and he has about 24 Oldsmobiles of our vintage. All parts cars. Lives in my same province, BC. He going to pull several of the parts I need. I am now going to install Power lock. One of the options my car never came with. Anyone else need parts? |
