My 71 Cutlass Supreme-Daily Driver

This is my 1971 Cutlass Supreme. Recently tore her apart to replace the front suspension, replaced all engine seals, checked out engine and everything was good, installed hedman hedders, painted and put back together. Its been about 1000 miles since I've put her back together and she is driven daily. Comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Good looking hardtop. It's looks mysterious with the black paint and standard rims. Some SS1 or SSIII rally wheels would set it off nicely.

Nice looking car! I agree with the idea of SSI wheels, I think they would go well with black paint. John

I have a set of 15x7 ssIII rims to put on the car, but I can't afford tires at the moment. The rims have been sandblasted and are waiting for paint. I'm looking forward to putting them on. I agree they'll look much better on the car.

Looks like a nice car, congrats on getting her back on the road. Even better that you live in Long Beach, you get to drive it year round!

My 71 Cutlass is also my everyday driver. Way to go driving it everyday. People told me I was crazy for fixing up my car to use it as an everyday driver, but I got the car b/c I like it, not b/c I want to never be in it. It has been my everyday driver for 15 years.

Nice car. Put some dogdish hub caps on those rims. Would look cool with the white walls.

Looks great, I would go with the dog dish hubcap suggestion as well.

Looks good. I always liked the Supreme body style with OLDSMOBILE trunk lettering.

Since it has white walls, caps would look even better for now. I would also get a K&N air filter. Also need the correct rocket emblem (white not black IIRC) for front stone shield, unless of course you did that intentionally to match the black paint.

Nice car, I agree some wheels are in order at some point when budget allows. Maybe even some black torque thrusts would look good

I did intend on buying that emblem over time. I still need to pull the grilles and all out to line everything up and fix all the panel gaps. Kind of got in a hurry and didn't have enough man power to line up the whole front of my car. The guy that had the car before me though kind of threw a step above earl scheib paint job on the car. He painted over the grilles which I dont really mind because it matches the car, but he painted over the emblems as well :/ The Cutlass Supreme emblem in the grille and the Rocket Emblem on the stone shield is actually chrome paint- mimics the look of chrome to some extent. When i pull it all back apart to fix the gaps I plan on replacing all emblems. K&N air filter? just to go in my current edelbrock intake or get the "ram air" sets they sell? Been thinking about it just cant think of a place to put the air inlets except for removing a headlight. Thanks for all the comments guys! -Eric

Benefit of living in California is it doesn't get to unbearably hot When I bought the car the guy had parted out the AC parts for a little extra cash. Ive been collecting all the parts again. All I need is the link that adjusts the compressor :/ But as you can see from the ziploc bags everythings there and wants to work, just gotta get it all hooked back up.

HAHA its funny you should say that. When I bought the car it came from a black guy in COMPTON who had some 22" D'Vinci rims on it. I took them off because they were tearing up my suspension, transmission was getting worked, and the wheels rubbed terribly. I think I have some pictures of the car sitting on 22's lol when I'm home from school I'll see if I can find them. I feel like I actually kind of saved this car from some damage being done to it because it was in the wrong hands. I dont even want to talk about their attempt at electrical connections.... Or lack there of. He kept "ok" care of it, but you could tell it was getting turned into a ghetto hoopty.

yeah being in texas i prolly should install my A/C units in my car, but it gives me an excuse to roll down the windows i guess lol

Lol I know. They actually did look pretty good on the car. Lets just say I don't like driving around certain neighborhoods around here with those on Attracts the wrong kind of attention.. But yeah, people always turned their heads and pointed. And like I've said just didn't like what they were doing to my car.. but she did fly down the freeway

The 22's serve a function you know. Oil changes without jack stands

Very nice car. I have always liked that body style. I kind of like the plain black rims look. I agree it would look sweet with the dog dish poverty hub caps. It would really look like a sleeper.
