SSIII rims

Morning- I am picking up a complete set of 5 1969 oldsmobile SSIII wheels today and I assume they will fit my 71' Supreme....hate to assume
so I ask. Is this correct, do not want to shell out $150 for nothing.

Thanks, Tom

An SSIII is nothing but a SSII painted the body color as oppossed to argent silver[grey]

69 were SSII painted argent

Without writing a tome about the subject. "Basically" there are two types bolt on centers and snap on centers. 14" and 15" The bolt on being earlier and more desirable.
Sounds like a bargin and yes they should fit.

Are you sure they are from a 69 Olds? They could be the later SS wheels that came on the B body. If so they might not fit your vehicle. Just measure the bolt circle to make sure before you buy them.

All SSII/III wheels came with the 5 x 4.75" bolt circle.

Oh ok. I guess the reasone I got confused is that the older B/C bodies had a 5 x 5" bolt circle. I know for a fact that Oldsguy had to use adapters to fit SS wheels on his 69 Delta 88.

Yes, they were offered on the 77-85 Delta 88s. These "downsized" full size cars were available with either the A-body 4.75" bolt circle or the 5" bolt circle when fitted with the HD brakes. Obviously the SSII/III wheels were only offered with the smaller brakes and bolt pattern. The 77 D88 Indy Pace Car used them. These full-size applications typically used the snap-in "starfish" wheel centers.

That was an awsome car. Oldsguy and I found a 78 Holiday 88 in the wrecking yard one time that was blue with T-tops and a console shifter. That was an awsome car. I didn't have the engine, transmission, or wheels anymore though. It probably had a 403.
