YOUR FAVORITE CUTLASS AND WHY?
Oldsmobile Gentlemen and Ladies,
What's your favorite Cutlass to date? (Year make, etc.) Give a little explaining as to why. Also, what's the best Cutlass in your opinion? NOW I KNOW THAT QUESTION WILL START A FIRE OR TWO.
Share pics if you can. We would all appreciate that! On a personal note I more than likely will be purchasing a 78-80 Cutlass in the near future. Will post when I get some pictures.

Personal preference are 1964 and 1966 for the looks. I'm also in the minority who likes the 73-75 cars, simply because they were contemporary when I started driving.
The 68-72 cars are uncomfortable for me to drive (6'3"), and the 65 and 67 have some styling elements that don't do it for me.

I like the 71 Cutlass S. My dad (Oldsguy) had one when I was little. It was root beer brown and bronze with a black vinyl top. It had a 350 and TH 350 with headers and other performance goodies. I wish I had gotten the chance to drive it but I was only about 1 year old at the time.

That's a hard one to answer! I have a '72 now and in the past I've had an '81 and a '79. I loved the collonades...oh, and I also have a '67...I guess it would be easier to say that I really didn't care for any of them after '87-'88! Although the convertibles with that rollbar thing in the back weren't too bad...

My favorite Cutlass was my first car a 73 four door painted chamois gold, why? because it was my first car I guess. As for the best Cutlass I would say a 70 w-31 post bench seat with a four speed, if that ain't a factory hot rod nuttin is.

I did like that '71 Cutlass I had but it is not my favorite body style. I really like the '64, small car and really nice. I don't know if it qualifies as a "pony" car or not but even if it doesn't, I think a person could rebuild one like that today with so many modern high performance/handling aftermarket items to make it a real road hugging screamer. Another of my favorites is the '76 '77 body styles. With the waterfall hood and the sharp rear fender lines and vertical tail lights they really appeal to me. When I was in drafting class in high school my junior year we had an assignment to draw a front/side view of something. I did a car, from my head not from an existing car. It looked very much like the '76 '77 Cutlass. That year was 1972. NOT A LIE, this is true. I wish I still had that drawing but you all will just have to believe me........or not.
It's still true though.

'70 SX , as that was my first car. (my sister , the previous owner, swears she has some pictures of it. I will post them if they do indeed exist) I wish I had taken some, but driving in the '70s was way more cool than toting a Kodak around. Chumley

X2 just add Buick especially 64-67 gs's in particular. I like the late model g body 442's even if they were gutless.

The 70-72 Cutlass has always been my favorite and that is why my 72 is the first one I bought! I also like the 66's, especially verts! 69 H/O would be the next one in line!

I would have to agree with you on this one! That is why I was so happy when I had the chance to buy mine! Oh, by the way, you forgot to add F-85 into your description!

I have to say that the 69 cutlass was and still is my favorite. I ordered one when I was a senoir in high school.Should have never gotten rid of it. But the army had ideas for me.Been wanting one ever since. Finally got one last year and been having a blast ever since. It's still in pieces but I'll get there someday.

It's hard to pick just one... but for me the 1970 442 would be tops. The 455 4 speed with a posi is fun to drive. All the little touches that make it stand out, like the OAI hood, wing on the trunk, notched bumper with exhaust tips. A close second would be a 1970 Vista Cruiser I once had, with a 455 and posi rear end, white with a black interior including SSII wheels and a 4 spoke sport wheel. The Vista was so smooth on the highway.

I'm really into the '64"s (I have 4) I also like the '68's also. I had a '68 Hurst Olds, and a 442. I'm looking for another '68 442. I also have a soft spot for the '66's and also the '61/62 F-85. I also have a '70 Cutlass "S", It is a daily driver, it is OK, just not high on my list.

I fell in love with the '69 442 when I was a kid but ended up 'settling' for a '70 Chevelle SS 454 when I got my drivers license. I traded that for a '73 Buick GS Stage I 455 in college but I hever got that Olds thing out of my system. I've been looking at Cutlass Convertibles and 442's all along and finally found a '71 Cutlass SX 455 Convertible sitting in a dusty carport in Phoenix. After 2 years of leaving the guy notes, I finally got the car this past summer.

for me its the 64. i love that body style. second is the 68 conv. i have a 64 conv, 68 conv and 68 conv 442. i like the ignition being in the dash and not on the column. i like the hips on the 68's also.

Well, since there are other '68 votes out there, then I'll add mine. My first Olds was a '68 Cutlass, 4 speed, 3.91 posi, and almost a Ram-Rod. It won me over from the beginning even though it was used and not collectable at the time. Now, many years later, I own a real Ram-Rod. Best car ever.
But then, there's a '69 Supreme out there that I would like also...

For me it's a '71 Bittersweet convertible with white top & convertible. As a 1-year-only color you don't see that many, and it's set off real nice with the white. Of course I had one of these 25 or so years ago...

My fav Olds is whatever happens to be in my garage at the time! I'm not as fortunate as all you lucky multi-Olds owners...my situation only allows for 1 Cutlass at a time...besides, I don't think I have enough love to spread around multiple cars anyway!

I was 14 years old when my father took me to the local Oldsmobile Dealer in Utica Michigan.
He placed an order (remember those days) for what we were told was the first Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser to be sold.Beige with a beige interior.
Sitting in the showroom was a bright red 1966 Olds Cutlass Convertible.I was all over that car.
Dad ended up putting together a 2 car deal.
The Hearse and the Convertible.
The Cutlass was for my older brother.
My brother never appreciated that car and a year later after getting Dad hot under the collar I was given the keys to my first car.
36 years had passed and I discovered my new Girlfriend on the side of the road.1966 Olds Cutlass Convertible, same combination she was beautiful.
Brought back some great memories. I swore I would find a way to buy that car.Dont know how much shelf life I have left, and this car was my dream.
Couldnt have been a week later,a letter from the Friend of the Court arrives after 15 years of poverty saying that I was done paying child support. I am now the owner.
A lot of work, and a lot of money and I am 15 years old again.
I am having fun.
Always was an Oldsmobile fan .

tough choice
I would say a dark blue or black 2dr ht 69 Cutlass. A friend of mine had a 69 442 conv. for 18 years and I could have got it for less than $6k 10 years ago. It ran a 14.65 bone stock. It's the one on the left. My 68 w30 on the right.

The 69 I have now is my 1st olds, so I would have to say that one. But I certainly would say that I like most of them. I just appreciate seeing one driving on the road. All I get to look at around here is foreign cars. YEEEEUUUK!!!

66 convertible, Lucerne Mist/Blue strato interior.
Why? Gramps bought one new when I was 2 y.o. He gave it to me when I was 13 and I used it in H.S. and college.
Although it was always garaged, it was used in salty Pittsburgh winters from '66 through about 1980. By '86, the frame had more or less dissolved into nothing (while the interior and upper body looked showroom new). So, I let the car go sometime in the mid 80s.
I was always on the lookout for another one to replace the original. At the 2002 Scottsdale Pavillions show during B-J week, I met Gary from Mother's with his awesome '66 VC Mother's show car. The Mother's car happens to be painted in a shade very close to Lucerne Mist, so I told Gary I was looking for a '66 convertible in the same color. Gary pulls out a cell phone, hits a speed dial number and hands me the phone. His friend was in SoCal and wanted to sell a '66 blue vert to finance a '67 442 vert project.
I flew out the next morning and was picked up at John Wayne airport in the identical car that my Gramps bought new, except for wire hupcaps in place of full wheel covers, and white top in place of blue. I got to drive it up and down the PCH before shipping it home to Atlanta.
Since then, I've added another '66 Lucene Mist vert with more options (PW, console, AC) than my car has, a '66 F85 sedan w/27k miles, a '66 VC that will one day be a clone of the Mother's car (since Gary won't sell me his), and a couple of '67 VCs. I've also bought and sold at least 6 other 66/67s along the way.
Anyhow, that's the story behind my obsession with '66-'67 Cuttys

Mine has to be a '69 just for the simple fact that this is the first olds ive had and just got two weeks ago so im still pretty stoked about it. But after looking at all the pictures on this website there is no ugly oldsmobiles. Nice pics and comments everyone.

mine would have to be the 70. it is hard to pick because i like so many. from 70 to 72, i like the tail lights and grill best on the 70. just don't like that hood tongue that likes to lick everyone's head. after a while it will make you look like this.
