Lowering Springs

So I am the middle of replacing my front end and have my eye on some lowering springs. I have heard if you lower the front you also need to lower the rear. Is the true? Also, I was thinking about going with the 2 inch lowering springs. Any ideas? Anything I need to keep in mind, adjustments, or any think else I have to modify to install lowering springs?

I have a '68 Cutlass Supreme w/ a 350. Eventually I want to upgrade to a 455 but that is down the road a ways as I want to enjoy the ride for a little bit. So not sure what to go with for springs and shocks right now.

For me I have a Custom Cruiser to take this for what it's worth. I used Eibachs which were supposed to drop me 1.25 inch in the front and 1 inch in the back. Believe it or not they felt softer than the Stock F41 sport suspension springs which I thought were soft. I eneded up wanting a lower ride height and firmer suspension so I took the Eibachs out of the front and cut 1 1/2 coil off the F41 springs and it really dropped it. At first i thought I goofed and it was to much but after driving and looking at it I simply can not take my eyes off it. Now for the rear I used stock G-Body rear springs and it lowered it almost to the point where I have a level stance which is what I want.

I've been looking to lower my 65 98 and was wondering if I should cut the springs or maybe just bag it? Was the handling or anything sacrificed by cutting down the springs?

And anyone have any opinions on lowering blocks? I was thinking of going that direction but read that it could mess up your axles.

I cut my front springs. It did make them a bit stiffer but that is part of what I wanted. There is a huge difference between the price of cutting your springs(free) vs that of doing an airbag setup.

I would put an air bag suspension in my car if I were wanting to lower it. It may cost more, but you can always adjust the ride height with an airbag suspension. Plus, you will have superior ride quality compared with normal springs.

I cut my springs years back on my Fbird. Did it the Herb Adams way. I took 3/4 coil off and it lowered about 1 1/2" (going by memory) Cutting the springs also increases spring rate. I think bagging would be the way to go if one could afford it.
