COIL SPRING

I recently purchased "factory matched" front coil springs from Brothers Automotive Parts. The say that the springs are built to original factory specifications and allow build time.

I received the springs yesterday, they were installed, and now my mechanic seems to think that the front end sits a little high.

Questions:
1) Is the car suppose to sit level or a little higher in the front?
2) Are "factory exact" springs really factory exact?
3) What are my options now? I'm not sure if Brothers will take these springs back.
4) Should I even return them. Is there a way to weaken them?

All advise will be entertained. Thanks!

I've never heard anything good about Brothers Automotive. Hopefully they didn't send you a bad part. Sometimes new suspension parts will change the way a car sits. Perhaps the old springs were just worn out and sagged.

1. Should be level. The Chassis Service Manual should have specs to measure the height from the ground to various body locations. Maybe the rear is too low.
2. If they're factory exact, they are!
3. You may have a problem there. Yes, there have been numerous complaints about Brothers. First check the ride height to be sure that they *aren't* right.
4. If they're not right, yes return them. No, don't try to modify them.

Is your car factory equipped? Correct engine, trans, etc? For the spring application, if they didn't ask (or you didn't supply them) the year, model, transmission, A/C or not, at a minimum, you run the chance of getting the wrong spring.

after i done the frame off with my rallye 350 i sure thought that the front sit high but after i measured it i found that it was right on the money. i had factory matched springs front and back. did you do the back ones at the same time? also did the springs get installed with the correct side up and in the correct location on the lower control arm? it will sit differant if the spring is turned 180 degrees. the lower control arm is made so that the spiral of the spring will match. he probably got it right but may want to double check.

Some Yahoo put my front ones in wrong and you could hear an occasional "pop" That's a dead give away for me.
