My wife will bother me and ask me if I'm done yet. Even when I tell her it's going to take 2 hours, she asks me after 15 mintues.
She's not really jealous. I try to do the work when she's not around, but she'll call me a lot

Lost 2 girlfriends that way. Warned them about it, they said ok, but they didn't mean it. I have also ended relationships before they began bcause they didn't want to understand when I warned them of my addiction to cars.

I guess my exwife was like that.
She got mad because I spent too much money on the cars which didn't allow her to go drinking and do drugs everyday after work. I guess I was selfish, I didn't need to get new brakes or get the cars inspected ![]()

Us: We spend money on our car, the car is worth more, our asset base increases. We put in a garage, our house is worth more, our asset base increases.
Them: They buy worthless overpriced crap that has no value when it gets home. P.S. If there are any ladies reading this.. I'm not talking about you because your in the "Us" column. |

Not really, just bought my ninth car yesterday (not counting parts cars) and she seemed OK about it. We've been together longer than my two ex-wives combined, and things always seem to work out. There's a reason for everthing in life, and I'm kinda proud of the ol' blonde. But then again, I'm saying this because I know she doesnt' visit this site. And dont you tell her.... Jeff BTW, is this posted in "small blocks" for a reason?

My "other lady" does not seem to care at all. In fact she gives me WAYY too much space, mainly because she is raising a teenage daughter.
Of course I do buy her nice things from time to time like clothes, jewelry, etc. She actually seems to be happy with my new lady filling the void between us. Also she likes the idea of us going out double dating, especially topless on warm summer nights... ![]()

Yeah I mentioned something about getting parts for my '77 Cutlass recently and she had an attitude about it. Saying that there are all these things to pay for when there really isnt.

I heard an interesting story once.
A man wanted something for his car, had researched and shopped and knew the item, the price and where he was going to get it. He also knew that his wife wouldn't go for it. So he kept looking, and kept looking, and about a week later found a similar item at a much higher price at a different place. The next day he made sure he was at the store with his wife and showed her the item and sort of off-handedly said "I sure wish we could afford that but I know it's too much, isn't it honey?" Of course she agreed but then conceded that if he could find one at a lower price, well.............you know the rest of the story. In cases like this, delivery and timing is everything.

When I met my wife I was circle track racing, thats a way of life not a hobby!! Now I'm drag racing she puts up with it but doesn't understand the passion I have for cars. When I was building my F85 she got me custom license plates. The one she wanted to get me but was already taken was "OTHRWMN". Which would have been classic. JKaz

LOL dont you know it. Im 18 in june, but me and my GF have been together for 2 years. I picked up the cutlass and all my money disapeared, she doesnt really like that. But she understands, which is why we are still together : ) I just cant wait to put her behind the wheel for the first time, She has enough trouble driving her dads 307 Chevelle, and I quote, "its so fast and powerful, it scares me."

Hehe... In the picture link in my sig, look at my car (when in the Smoky Mountains) and take note of the licence plate. OTHRWMN it was! I need to post a picture of that plate... That is how she became my "Lady"... ![]()

On my first date with my wife, then girlfriend, we were in Washington DC. I parked at a meter which turned out to be broken. Jumped in the Delta to move her and nothing! It was an oh s*** moment for sure. Popped the hood and just happened to notice a wire that looked loose. Shoved it back in and she roared to life. The car that is. She thought I was a stud! Never had a problem putting time into the car since...

My girlfriend has no right to have an opinion about my cars and what i do to them. That was one of the basic rules i explained to her when we started dating..
Now i can do what i want she never complains! until i spend like the hole day in the garage :PSo i cant say its much trouble with that |

I make it clear that I have an Oldsmobile fetish to all the women I see.
The one in my sights now, her favorite car ever is a 1968 - 72 Chevelle Super Sport...Me, being the clever little shit that I am, took her by the *70ish Chevelle Super Sport that was sitting under that old man's car port gathering dust that I found one day and showed it to her...told her that I'd steal it for her and take her away in it. I found MY favorite car ever, a 1969 Oldsmobile 442, in a town about 50 miles away on Mardi Gras when I was headed to a club to party, same situation, sitting under a carport with the paint fading away...and she wants to drive up there with me to see it while I talk to the owner and see if they'll sell it. She's actually excited about it. I may have found god's gift to men ![]() |

Last Cutlass I bought, the insurance cards came in the mail and she said "Here's the cards for the Cutlass. Cutlass, I didn't know we owned a Cutlass!" I said "We do now". She kinda bitched about the kids college etc and let it go. I find it much easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. So far I've driven home a new 1996 Z28, a Corvette (1971 LT1), a 2004 Mustang Cobra, and of course the Cutlass which is getting a 4 speed installed as we speak. Can't wait!

Heh heh - my Wife is always ribbing me about how much time I spend in the garage working on my '54. She dreads summer 'cause she knows I'll be out there nearly every evening. I think sometimes she thinks I love it more than I do her (don't worry, honey - you're still number one!) |

The money is either going toward car parts, or your girls "shoe" fund. I say the car parts are better, they last longer, and they look better ! Mwuahahaha

I had a girlfriend for a while who asked why I put so much time into a car and not a house. I explained it to her this way, a car is an accessory you can "wear out" and impress everybody while you enjoy it, but you have to take people to your house. She was more understanding at that point when she realized I had related it to shoes.
Another girlfriend came to me and said "Me and my friends have been talking, and we think that you should let your toy go." To which I responded "Well, me and my toy have been talking and we decided you and your friends should go." Now I look for gearhead girls. They are the only ones who understand. |

I bought my 84 hurst olds in 1991 for $6500 and the appraisal value is now $15000. Last fall I bought a 64 Starfire convertible for $9000 and had it appraised three weeks later for $18000. I remind her of this every time she starts to complain if I spend a few bucks on the cars.

My wife has an even more expensive hobby - thoroughbred horses - so she really doesn't complain.
