My project car

Here's a picture of my other old car and my young son. It's a '66 Dart GT. I know it isn't an Olds but I couldn't pass on such a different car in such good shape. Buckets, console, 273, no rust, everything works. I took it upon myself to repaint it this spring(DANG that's a lot of work) and is now a blue metalic with white top and tail stripe. Drove it to the Erie KS show but will be in Chanute this weekend with my '71.

It's light weight, fun to drive, and a comfy ride. A real sleeper. More hp down the road.

Cool ride. Brings back memories. My mom bought a Dart GT in 66 right after I rolled her 65 Cutlass into a canal at about 100mph in the rain. Never knew about aquaplaning when I was 17 years old. Probably subconsciously why I now drive a 65 Cutlass.

The 340 was a good motor the 318 and 273 were not so good. Had a 65 cuda 3500 lbs 273 v8 four barrel ran like a two legged dog. Never timed it but was only able to get it up to 84 mph in the 1/4 mile. What ever happen to the measured miles on the highway hehe. Now that I am older but not wiser realize the differential was more to blame than the motor.

I haven't timed mine but it has a lot of zip and stepping up to 14" tires helps the ride and traction. Those little 13s could really smoke. Eventually have a worked 318 or 340 down the road.
