How strong is a Stock 50 Olds rear end? etc.

How strong is a Stock 50 Olds rear end? Motor options i have...Whats in it might run???? maybe...

The coupe has a 58 Olds in it??? maybe he's not sure what it is. might find a 303 for it, If i get the 58 Olds J-2 a runner a friend told me about, if he will sell it.

If i put the 429 - 340hp 66 Caddy motor i have - it's free > 10 t0 1 compression. Or ???

any other rear end that guys use in them? or keep the 50 in it.

I have a 77 Cutlass posi rear end a buddy gave me 5 years ago. just sitting there. I think on the Caddy swap the two cars factory curb weight, theres a 990 lbs difference in my favor. Cast iron trans case, Alum. turbo 400 would be a wash. just in the planning stage now, got to get it home first...........

Not very.

The 88 drivetrain was designed for use in the '48/earlier 76 series. Axles, U-joints, and engine mounts, were not known for their longevity.

Short for "Positraction". The marketing (Each manufacture used its own) term, Chevrolet used for their limited slip differential.

Olds called theirs, "Anti-Spin".
