Can anybody help me open my hood(50 88) ?

First off, I'm new to the site and what a cool site it is. I can't believe I've never seen it before. I've been on several times since first visiting and I think I could spend days and days just checking out all the cool info and cars. Now to my problem, that hopefully someone can help me with. The hood cable appears to have broken on my 1950 88. Has anybody ever dealt with this problem before ? Is there an easier way to get to it other than disassembly of the grille ? Thanks, Mike

Wouldn't a 50s 88 have a latch on the hood instead of under the dash?

BTW, are you in OK? I am in Lawton. Welcome to our site.

Four bolts hold the lower grille bar in place. Access them from under, and just behind, the bumper. Once the bar is out, the latch can be opened with a screwdriver.

Both mine have short coat hangers, in place of the cables, but I have never been overly concerned with originality.
