48 Olds hot rod project
If I was made of money and had the room it would already be here but I'm not and I don't so someone jump on this.

That is a cool car. It isn't too far from me either. I think he is asking a bit much though. Maybe if it still had the original motor, or even a 455 / TH 400 that needed a rebuild.

Thats a sweet ride. I am looking for a daily driver, was thinking aboyt the 64-65 we were talking about earlier. This would be unique. Ummmmmmmm. I am going to make an offer. The way I add up what he already has into it with the disc breaks, ford 9", seats and other parts, Does not sound like a bad deal to me. ![]() ![]() |

I am talking from experience with my '46 which is basically the same car. If you could get that car for $4,000 and you had a 455/400 combo for it ready to go it would be worth it. His frame/suspension/rear axle combo is worth the work I don't have in my car yet. Look at the post I have and all the pictures of the work to do the fram mounts, etc. I don't even have a good front end like this one or the nice 9 inch. It looks like the interior might be a little rough but the body looks good. I bet an IFS alone is worth close to a grand if it is done right. Go to HAMB and look at "BigOlds" which is a '47 I think with an IFS from an eighties or maybe late sevnenties Oldsmobile. That is one sweet ride. Thanks for the heads up Richard.

Hmmm... I guess with the Ford 9 inch and all it isn't too bad. You don't run into 40s cars very often. That was before the space race, Cold War, Elvis Presley, 55 Chevy Bel Air, etc. That was a LONG time ago.

Great site but word of warning. Don't use the word Rat Rod and don't post anything without introducing yourself first.

Bit of advise. If the guy is independent he will likely carry business cards. If you like his service ask him for one and then contact him directly. Most of us tend to operate in familiar areas, which tend to be either close to home or gets us there. If you have a bunch of stuff moving you may be able to negotiate a package rate on the whole lot. Just keep in mind these trucks are not cheep to own or operate. Sometimes people experience sticker shock when they get a quote.
If you can get directly to the man operating the truck you will probably get the best service, rates, and communication possable ![]()

I would think twice about using a U-haul trailer. They are light weight and really only designed for late model smaller cars. If you are talking about a car dolly I would not even think about it.
Congrats on getting it. I will PM you my Paypal address so you can pay my finders fee ![]() ![]()

He has promised me a 4-Wheel car hauler trailer. I will rent a Large Box van from My Employeers vech. rental firm 1-1/2 ton or better and put all of the fenders seats, etc inside so they do not get wet on the trip I will buy a very good car cover so I don't have to deal with anything but mild surface rust. We will drop down into the sunshine states through to CA then up 101 to Washington and home. I'll stay in touch during the travels

Well, I don't know what IT is. As revealed in another post, I call it the project so it has no gender. To be more accurate, I guess IT has a sibling now!
