1964 Starfire

1964 Starfire
For sale: 1964 Oldsmobile Starfire. Holiday Red w/Black Leather.
I ended up with this car after the after the eBay auction (impulse buy). I did have plans to restore it, but I’m still restoring my 62-88, and 64-98 (pics of those cars are in my album). I'm not sure when I will get around to this, so up for sale it goes.
This is a rust free two owner car (last owner had the car 23 years). Nice options… a/c, power steering, brakes, windows, antenna, wonderbar radio (with foot switch), rear seat speaker, tilt wheel tinted glass, remote mirror, cornering lamps, seat belts, and wire wheel covers.
The car has been sitting since 1996, and will need the usual need basic maintenance performed to be road worthy again (would make the perfect winter project). Includes the original protection plan (protect-o-plate).
The interior was full of dust. I cleaned it up in/out, and removed the old carpet which was shot (unstitched/saved the floor mats). Sandblasted, professionally refinished the original rims (not rattle can), then put brand new tires on it. wire wheel covers are in the trunk. Additional pics are in my photo album.
I am in the process of prepping the car to run again, and hopefully will have time soon. The body is absolutely solid. No rust or accident damage anywhere. As you can see in the pics, floors and trunk are perfect. Floors still have factory markings. Chrome is very nice. Paint faded, weather stripping is shot.
All the windows, lights, and power accessories work (except the radio/antenna)... even the wire wheel covers look beautiful. Has both "Graydon Murphy Olds" license plate brackets, and CA black plates which go with the car.
The interior needs seats, carpet, package tray, and kick panels to be show quality. The headliner is perfect. Glass is not cracked including the windshield. Steering wheel is not cracked either. You could just add carpet, and leave the rest alone.
I do not buy/sell a lot of cars, but this car is definitely worth the effort (I just don't have time). Clear CA title.. $6500. I can store the car for a while if you need time..
Located in Tucson, Arizona.
Thank you, Paul.

Wow, nice save. I remember that auction, and you really have cleaned that car up nicely. It looks like an excellent project. You're not that far from me. If I didn't already have two old cars, I'd be seriously considering it. Good luck.

Thanks Jaunty.. these cars KEEP following me home. I have a dificult time saying no (as you can see). I was going to drop you a note about this one coming up again since you took the time to upload the old pics. I hope it finds a good home... Otherwise I will comit to restoring it.

Update:
I spent time on the Starfire over the weekend, and got it running... so it now runs/drives starts/stops (well). The motor actually runs nice (despite sitting 18 years) has full compression with no lifter noise, or smoke. I rebuilt the carburetor, and fuel pump, replaced all the rubber fuel lines, tuned it up, put new tires on, and changed the fluids... (no leaks).
Still needs new belts/hoses before I would drive it any distance. But at least this update should answer several questions.. Oh yea, I wet sanded/polished the car. Looks a whole lot better, but really shows the need for a good paint job!

Thanks guys. What a difference a little elbow grease makes. I am going to go through it again and polish everything up one more time.
