I own 2 blue stripe 70 W cars. The stripes on both my cars are definetely lighter than the ones on this car.

I'm assuming that the owner preferred a darker blue stripe and deviated away from the orginal colour light blue stripe.

Still, this convertible is absolutely gorgeous!!!

Cheers,
Sam

Stefano,

The blue stripe cars I have are not original paint cars but have the light blue stripe. One is a W30 (azure blue) and the other is a F85 W31 (twilight blue).

The blue stripe on the Azure car was paint matched using an original fender that had the blue stripe. Thanks to Ken C for helping me with this!

Since I had a magnetic Manufacture's plate I cannot tell you how many W cars I took to lunch! lol

Here is the paint code/mixture that was obtained by scanning an original fender.
This is the paint(colour) that was applied to the Azure Blue W30.(picture above)

Thanks again Ken C for all your help with the paint mixture!

maybe YOU have not been watching the market lately? this is a well known W-30 car that is a high end restoration. and they have been selling over this asking price. heck I know of a 70 442 convert NON w-30 without the 4 speed that sold a month or so ago for over a 100,000

seems to me most of the light blue stripes on cars were done to "match" the blue of the interior. After all that time I'm sure many thought the original blue stripe was an odd color or wrong. After all most stripes do come close to matching the interior. Though it is odd how my car has three whites, the stripe is white, the interior pearl and the top is an off white.
