1968 442 coupe updated drivetrain - LS7/T56
1968 Oldsmobile 442
•Peruvian silver with black fender stripes.
•Lansing built real 442 with 344****M VIN.
•LS7 engine / T56 six speed transmission.
oEngine is 2006 Z06 Corvette take-out (505 HP!!!)
oGM Performance Parts ECU and wiring harness
•Stainless long tube headers with Magnaflow exhaust.
•Body-off restoration, all new bushings, frame and all components media blasted and painted/replaced.
•4.33 posi rear, perfect with the six speed.
•18” wheels and redline tires.
•Huge Corvette J55 disc brakes in front.
•Interior all original except carpet.
•Rally pack gauges (converted to work with the LS7).
•Rebuilt Olds 455 and Muncie 4 speed also available.
•Was a low mile car, spent many years as a bracket racing car before being restored and converted to LS7/T56.
oHas never been raced since restoration.
•Not a perfect car, was done about 4 years ago and has ~2000 miles on it. Some chips, etc but it looks great and always draws a crowd!
The car was a roller when I bought it, so not a numbers matching restoration candidate. Nearly everything done to the car was done in a reversible way. I do have a rebuilt 455 and Muncie for it in case the buyer ever wants to put it back to a more original style. I don't know why anyone would ever want to go back to a big block after one ride in this car with the LS7, it's exceptionally quick but as drivable as a new Corvette.
SOLD!

I'm having a hard time adjusting to a modern engine under the hood, but I bet it runs great...just a cosmetic thing. I love the car other than that....it really is a beautiful car. I'd like to see the interior...is the 6 speed integrated into a console?

Thanks for the comments. The interior is original except the carpet. For the six speed, I adapted the factory 442 handle to a Hurst T56 shifter. I'm not using a console because the location is about 4-5 inches farther back than the original opening and it's also centered in the car, not offset to the left.

Nice. Looks like you kept the dry sump.
Btw, great price, you couldn't build one for that much. Ask me how I know ;-)

Just noticed this and wanted to know how much you were selling it for originally? My next Olds project will most like be a 68 LST-56 combo too.
And on the side note of the LS7 being the best ever v8 built in a vette? This is a GM motor not Chevy... I wish people can get past this argument...
