73 Hurst/Olds

This is a 1973 Hurst/Olds white w/ gold stripes. It is one of 1097 Hurst/Olds made that year. It is a southern car and still has original paint, stripes & roof. The car is solid. The only body work I see it needing would be at the base of the vinyl roof. It originally came with a white interior but it was all dry rotted and I replaced it with a nice black interior. The car is not currently running. Will need an engine rebuild. I have collected many, many parts especially for the engine compartment. I must have over $2000 in parts alone. The engine is the original 455 engine. $8500. Price is firm. Located in Massachusetts

Also mentioned is that the interior has been changed to black yet there are no pics of the interior. Is it me or is that odd?

$8500 asking price plus driveline rebuild & paint & stripes.....I can see this being $20K finished. $20K will buy a wonderful 1973 HO with no need to restore or wait. Just my 2 cents.

None the less good luck with the sale. This is a car worth fixing. Perhaps someone who can do all the work themselves will be able to justify the $8500 up front cost but I can not.

Hi Dave,

Yes you are correct. You would probably have 20k into the car once its done. If I had 20k to spend on a 73, then I would buy one thats already done as well. I didnt have that kind of money when I bought it so I planned on fixing it up little by little starting with the interior. I can take pictures if needed. The only things that didnt get changed are the seats. The previous owner had already reupholstered the fronts and they came out really nice. I had planned on doing the back seat eventually but it is not torn.

And yes the pictures are the one the previous owner sent me. I never bothered to take any pictures since I owned it. The quality of the pictures is not that great because they were scanned pictures of ones I had printed out. But the exterior of the car hasnt changed.

I agree with you that the more you can do yourself the more money you will save. But once the mechanical work is done, it can be driven until you have the money to paint it. It has the original paint and it still holds a shine. No major body work is needed. No quarter panels to cut out or fenders to replace. The bottoms of the doors are solid.

Many of the parts needed for the engine compartment are already purchased such as new: radiator, correct radiator cap, NOS overflow tank, wires, plugs, distributor, alternator, water pump, gaskets, vacuum lines, thermostat, etc.

Thanks

Mark
