1970 4 door cutlass supreme
My grandmother recently passed away and had this car in her garage. It is a 1970 4 door cutlass supreme with the 350 rocket engine. It is in amazing shape. only has 76k on it and it is a one owner garage kept vehicle. Can anyone give me an idea of what this vehicle is worth?

You won't get rich off it, and you won't get 2-door/ convertible money either, but the car looks like it would make someone a very nice driver or possibly show in an original or HPOF class. Would be a shame to part it if it's nice, or worse let the big-wheels crowd get it.
Where in WV, and how roadworthy is the car? With that Royal badge I'm thinking probably around Charleston?

Well, for one thing, it looks like it has been stored on its side!
Just kidding.
Good luck with the sale.
I tell you what, tho, given what I suspect it will bring, you might want to consider hanging onto it for a year or so, just to remember her and to get some kicks driving a 42 yr old car around.

I work at a Land Rover dealer in Charleston and the car has spent its entire life in Dunbar. My grandmother got sick and stopped driving it in 2000. I would take it in for an oil change and inspection once a year for year until 2004 when she said forget it I won't be driving anymore. The car stayed in the garage and in 2010 when she passed I put a new battery in it and thrid crank it fired right up. I went over every couple of months and started and let it run for a little while. I drove the car yesterday for the first time since 2004 and it is very strong. My tech looked it over and to my suprise no real issues. I am replacing all belts and doing an oil change today.

Welcome to C.O.
My condolences on the loss of your Grandmother.
By the sound of it, I expect that you're in the position of determining the estate assets before having to pay taxes or probate the will? Just from the pics, I would suggest around 3500.00 to 4000.00 even though it may be in great condition. There's just no real demand for these sedans.
X2 From the pics it looks like a post sedan. The CS hardtop sedan prolly has more appeal.
May I suggest you list the options the car has? Just looking at the car from the pic doesn't say much. I can see that it has a 2bbl 350 and A/C. Hard to see the typical body spots where rust usually lurks in these shots.
If your Grandmother (RIP) kept records of the cars maintenance that would be a benefit to a new owner.

I see from one of your photos it was bought at Royal Oldsmobile in Charleston. My '73 Custom Cruiser was originally purchased at the same dealership. It's still there, I believe, selling Subaru and Jeep.
Below is the original dealer invoice for my car. Did your grandmother keep any of the original documentation? I'll bet it's around somewhere.
As far as value, as has been noted, the four-doors don't command the same money as the two-door coupes and convertibles. The Old Cars Price Guide lists the value of a '70 Cutlass Supreme 4-door hardtop in #3 condition ("car show" condition) at about $5,200. In showroom condition (#2), the value listed is $8,000. All of these values would be doubled or more if the car were a 2-door. Still, they're pretty good money.
That's a beautiful "barn find." Definitely keep it or sell it to someone who won't take it apart.

According to NADA (which is generally high in my opinion) retail value on a 70 4 dr sedan 350 w/air is somewhere in the $2400-6400 range.
If the body is really solid and everything is working well enough to safely drive it home, you might see $4000 on eBay.

The '70 Cutlass Supreme was not offered as a 4-door post sedan. The only 4-door version was a hardtop.
If this car IS a 4-door post, then it is a "plain" Cutlass. The Cutlass S had no 4-door styles, and, as I noted, the only Supreme 4-door was a hardtop.
The plain Cutlass was also offered as a 4-door hardtop, so it could be a plain Cutlass, too, unless he knows for sure it is a Supreme.
If it is just a Cutlass 4-door hardtop and not a Supreme, the values I gave above drop by about $300 at each condition level.

Side Question: If it HAD been a CS, would the grill be the same as the 2 dr HT CS?

unless you are hurting for money, I would hold on to this car.. I'm sure you rode in the back of this car with your grandmother when you were a kid.. the memories are worth more than the $4000 you'll get for it

My grandmother passed away in 1987 - she had a blue 72 Supreme 4 door sedan - wasn't perfect but a nice all around car - I took my driver's test in that car with her taking me to the DMV - I did not have the money (in high school) to buy it from the estate and it was sold locally - car was totalled by the new owner 6 months later.
There's not one day that goes by that I don't wish I could have gotten that car somehow...worthless in dollars as it was...and that was 25 years ago
Think it over

No. As I said above, the plain Cutlass was available as both a four-door post and a four-door hardtop. The Supreme was available as a 4-door hardtop. But the middle series, the S, was not offered in any four-door style. At least, all of this was the case for 1970.

From what I've learned those grills you refer to as Cutlass S grills actually were the same grills used for the 70 f85 coupe, base Cutlass, Cutlass S and Cutlass wagons. The question about repopping them has been discussed (at length) and there apparently is no plan to. A recent ebay auction sold an NOS set of those for around 730.00 IIRC.
Someone mentioned that they are NOT just Cutlass S grills, just grills that were used on 'other than 442 and CS'

Jaunty, are you sure about this? What is your source? I'd like to look this up for myself, as I've always thought the hardtop 4door was a Supreme only. Gee, I better be careful, I might learn something.

Mike, Jaunty is right. The 1970 Cutlass was available as a Town Sedan and Holiday Sedan
Here's a pic of the Cutlass Holiday Sedan model 3539 from the GM Photostore
This is the 1970 Cutlass Town Sedan model 3639
And this example is the 1970 CS sedan model 4239 (as posted earlier) Note: the CS body trim on lower doors, quarters and fender. On this model the wheel opening moldings only went as far as that trim line. On standard Cutlass (Town or Holiday) the wheel trim was full reveal.
EDIT: Mike you can check the source from the 1970 SPECS, 1970 CSM and 1970 Assembly Manual. It's in all of those

there was a Bamboo car, in the same or better condition here locally for sale for 2 years, i kept an eye on it thinking when it got realistic, id buy it..it was freakin' show quality, garage kept, 1 owner gandpa car...it was a true time capsule...it started out at $65oo and sold for $2500 to some ghetto rat.,it just disappeared...i found the old add, and an old guy said he sold it to a hood rat...he hated to but no one else would even come look at it...and he said he took $2500.......low and behold...it showed up on CL last week..big wheels and all..and a $15000 price..the listing does the car no justice..its been in his posession for a year or so...when i looked at it...it looked like it had never been in the rain, the bottom was as nice as the top..and the gold interior smelled new...looksa like crap in these pic but...it really is immaculate....

Yeah, 15 large is way more than it's worth. Most likely a flipper who figured to sell for $$ with some bling bling.
That car, BTW is another great example of a Cutlass Holiday Sedan.

Allan thanks for the info! That wasn't a challenge, by the way, just that I've never seen nor heard of the base Cutlass 4door in a hard top. Way cool. I will check out the references and "by gawd" learn something.
