Another one of my favorite Oldsmobile's. One of my older brother's had a '54 two door Ninety Eight. What a solid car, even the optional wire wheel covers weighed a ton. The oil bath "darth vadar" looking air cleaner was very unusual for the time.

Jay, I bet those two parts are chrome aren't they? This does look like a pretty complete car. It is a late model 54 since they did not start using those two small chrome pieces to separate the color on the rear quarter until June of 54. The braces under the hood are interesting. My 54 does not have them and I am not sure I have seen another one with those. I think this is a regular 88 and not a Super 88 since it does not have backup lights. I may be wrong on that. Somebody should save this one.

Jay, I should have noticed the round 88 emblem on the rear doors which would have told me it was a Super 88. I think it is pretty rare for a Super 88 not to have backup lights. I looked at the copy of the invoice for my car and the backup lights were an option. I think kjr442 should keep this car and do it in capri blue and glacier white.

Thanks for the compliments on our Super 88. We appreciate it very much!

That was a thing Jay and I discussed when he was doing his car. I did my wheels blue when the car was restored which is not factory correct (I think). I think the blue between the Fiesta wheel covers and the wide whitewalls really stands out. Jay came back later and painted his wheels blue. I just think it looks a lot sharper.

I saw that. I hope somebody restores it. A lot of 4 doors wind up getting parted out. That car can be restored. The interior will take some work though.
