1963 Full size brake booster (HELP)
Okay guys, so I when I drug my 1963 Oldsmobile super 88 wagon out of a field it was missing the brake booster and master cylinder. From what ive seen in a few catalogs and on the web, the brake booster is not really a readily available part. Where can I find one of these?? Im not strictly stuck on a NOS part or even a year correct as long as it works and has the correct length rod. I have plans of upgrading the front drum brakes to a set of the Scarebird discs in the future so the master cylinder will be a dual chamber versus the singles like it was originally anyway. Just need some guidance on where to find one of these elusive brake boosters!! Thank you all!

8 inch universal brake booster will bolt right in also you need a threaded clevis for your brake pedal, you will have to remove your brake light switch and relocate it because your brake pedal has to come up an extra inch

I'm wondering if there's any good reference material for looking this stuff up. The problem is that I've found a lot of variability when it comes to boosters and the spacing of the firewall mounting studs. As I recall the 8" "universal" boosters have firewall stud spacings that didn't quite match up with my 62 Bendix booster, so the "universal" booster wasn't going to be a drop-in fit on my car.
It'd be really handy if there was a table that showed the subtle differences between the boosters on the 61-64 cars, especially for someone who is looking for a specific application but can't find it, and would like to know what else might be a close fit.

I bought a booster similar to this one from my local speed shop in case it would not work, i could take it back, but it work out fine

According to the look-up table on that ebay auction, the part isn't compatible with his 1963 Super 88 or my 62 Super 88. When I measured my 62 the bolt pattern was wrong. It's only universal if you're willing to drill the mounting plate and firewall.

It bolted right in place of my old booster on my 1963 olds dynamic 88 convertible, as stated earlier I had to buy a threaded clevis so it would hook up to my brake pedal, and relocate my brake light switch. It works a lot better than the old junkie booster
