You can get some tools from the local auto parts store. They are just a set of plastic pry bars and picks that allow you to remove the trim without bending it.

Charles, welcome to Classicoldsmobile!
For those of you who don't know about it in 1971 The Delta Royale used a smaller back windshield than the Delta 88. To make this work Oldsmobile put in an insert, I'm not sure if its closer to plastic or to fiberglass, and secured that to the car with screws and filler. Here are a couple photos of the insert. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Kennybill, have you ever taken one of these apart?

Go to www.aaca.org forums, then search for a guy named Centurion who usually hangs around the Buick Club forums. He's knowledgeable about the formal roof cars since the Buick Centurion used the same rear window treatment. Smartin also has a Centurion and may be able to help.
The 69-70 Royale used a similar rear window treatment but I don't think it used the full perimeter plastic frame like the 71. Can't find a part # for it anyway.

2blu442, nice pic's and good info. I learned something new today! I have a 71 Royale convertible, a 4-dr 88 and a 4-dr 98parts cars. The Royale hardtop coupes are getting rare , it's been years since I've seen one. There is a video of a white one on youtube. GM was pretty creative in changing the look with "tweaking" the standard parts. Usually for most models the front windshields are re-popped but the rear windows are harder to find. I try to "stock-pile" spare parts for the model of Olds I have but one can only keep so much.
It amazes me that they so many but so few are left. Thanks for the info. Ken |
