Carburetor issues
Hello,
I am new to this site, and hope it helps! I have a 1969 Delta 88 with a 455. Original equipment included a 2 barrel Rochester. I wanted an upgrade, so I upgraded to HEI, an eddelbrock dual plane intake and a four barrel. Problem: I wanted to keep it as a Quadrajet, but the only one's I could get were from the local parts stores rebuilt by Champion. They were absolute junk! There were parts missing, bent, and broken, I went through three of these things before giving up and going to a 600 CFM (new) eddelbrock. It works great, but I don't have the power I want (that comes with a quadrajet) and the eddlebrock runs too rich, which I have heard is a problem. Where can I get a good quadrajet that is going to work well and is rebuilt like it should be? J.C. Whitney has q-jets rebuilt by Holley, but I have heard some things about Holley that does not excite me. HELP ![]() Thanks!!! |

C.J (texasred) recommended someone to me that he knew down in texas. He sold me a completely rebuilt Quadrajet specifically for my application. I am very pleased with the workmanship, you don't have to have a core, and he is reasonable. Check with C.J. and he can get you hooked up with this guy. I lost my contact information, that is why I can't offer it for you.

Thanks, I'll check with texasred. One other thing I failed to inquire about...Changing over from a two barrel to a four is not going to do any harm, correct? That kind of switch does add a bit extra torque and hp. I don't want to mess anything up! Everything in it is stock (with the exception of the upgrades mentioned above.

It shouldn't hurt, people have been doing that for a long time now.

Ya know, I am a member of a forum just like this for Full Size Broncos and although helpful and insightful, SOME people on those forums can get downright rude and not very helpful for others who ask 'stupid' or 'repeated' questions. I just joined this forum last night and went through tons of subjects, reading lots...I have experienced no such thing here! I have received quick help and the folks here seem pretty respectful. Maybe it's the type of cars that make a difference in the type of people, maybe not. Anyway, thanks to all for the help. I am sure I will be on here more for other questions and comments. Thanks fella's for the help and referrals.

NO prob! Besides, when we answer the question "Where can I find parts for my Oldsmobile?" and we answer with courtesy, for the hundredth time, "try Fusick or Kanter", it makes us look good.

Hey, has anyone tried www.usapartssupply.com? I have a catalog from them that came with the car. They have a lot of stuff! Their website is absolutely awful and not very helpful, but their (hard copy) catalog is great!!

Yeah, I downloaded their catalog once, and it saved as a million page text document that was not very fun to read. I bet they would be a top choice of ours if they had some organization and pictures.

Have a hard copy mailed...even the downloaded version is NOT the same. I have last years edition, it has about 96 pages and lots of pictures. Not knowing a whole lot about my olds, I need pictures before I would ever order a thing!
