'76 98 compression

my buddy has this car which he bought new in canada , shipped to europe when he moved back
he used it for a while , then stored ; started it up regularly for a while , then lost the keys 10 years ago so it stood in the barn
well , we are both now retired and decided to do a restore ; after some preliminary work , new lock /oil/ battery / wiring that the mice ate etc , she started up ran rough for a while , compression test , a little low except for one cylinder ...zero!!!!
clearly it hasn't dropped a valve so must be rings or similar
short of stripping , any bright ideas?

tia

Ring problem would not cause O compression. Being it sat so long, I would say you have a valve stuck open, or broken valve spring.Take the valve cover off and see if the rockers are moving. Do you have a cylinder leak down tester? That would help tell.

thanks harv .....have taken the cover off and looked at the springs / valves and they looked correct to me
HOWEVER .. in view of your observation that rings wouldn't cause zero compression will have another look ....I did try the traditional tap with a hammer but maybe I was a bit cautious
anyone heard of mice eating pistons ?
