Should I buy this?

I looked at a 455 the other day from craigslist. The motor is locked up, won't budge. It's been sitting outside exposed to the weather for probably 2 years now, and you can see where the rain has gotten all in the carb and intake. Looks like it's been dropped, air cleaner bolt is bent over, couple other pieces bent or broken. He want $250 for it. Think this is a rebuildable motor?

doesn't really sound like a good prospect to me, it'd be cheaper in the long run to pick up a solid block by itself and all the parts for it. Otherwise you'll be buying all the same parts + the expense of repairing a fairly damaged block.

Hope that helps!

Could be. But not worth it in that shape. Well maybe if the heads had a "D" or an "F" on them LOL. Im sure you could find another core in better shape. Are you looking for a core, or a running motor? There are a few 455s around here. between $400-600 running. Good luck with your search.

Its a gamble. I have seen motors like that make great cores and others opened them up and to find pits deep enough for a small rodent to call home. Also seen them with rods through a cly wall.

The price is not too bad if it good but its expensive for scrap metal. I think its only $50.00 a ton right now. I would see if you can work a deal to take it and pay to have it checked out and be able to get your money back if its junk.
