2001 Aurora upper brake light
Looking for information on how to repair the high brake lights on a 2001 Aurora. They are inside roofline lights. Mine are the tan ones which I only see as expensive if I want to buy them new. Any suggestions out there?

I believe you push the rear pod back towards the window, and then pull down gently at the front end to release plastic trim tabs that hold it up. Then slide it out and access the bulbs from the bottom. Most cars today are like this with the third brake light change.

Thank you. I will give it a try. The only fix I had seen so far was to replace the whole thing and it would cost me at least $400 - was the best price I saw out there. Hopefully I can just replace the bulbs.

When my '01 Aurora CHMSL went out I found that the diode on the PCB went bad. Replaced it with a diode from radioshack. Couldn't find the exact right one so I oversized it. Brightness is slightly less than original but OK and much better than not lighting up at all.

Don't forget to shop at your local wreckers...Our Bravada light was out and I picked one up at the wreckers from a Trail Blazer, $15.00. Of course you would have to get an Aurora light.
