Am I rememberring correctly?
A freind had a fully loaded '72 Vista Cruiser with pwr windows, etc. and a 455. I would bet money the A/C compressor had twin fan belts to it. So, I wonder why the '72 Toronado 455 A/C compressor has one belt? Does anybody here have a '72 455 with twin belts on the compressor?
I looked in my GM parts catalog pulleys and belts section and it doesn't show show dual belts for AC compressors on the Toronado or Vista Cruiser/Cutlass in '72.
Actually I didnt see any dual belt compressors for any Oldsmobile, from '70-'75 at least.

With the amount of torque needed to drive the A6 compressor, two belts should have been standard on all models to reduce belt stretching.
I have noticed that if the A/C belt is not gorilla-tight, the bottom of the belt flaps a lot and was actually cutting through the lower radiator hose.
My '86 has a similar problem, but not as bad. Of course it has the R4 compressor...
The cheesy cogged belts stretch even more, making the problem worse.
Anyone know where i can get a non-cogged variety? All the big local chain stores only carry the cogged ones for 1972...
