I recently bought a consol for my 71 442 it was original without one and had column shift. My question is with his new consol,it was for the basic floor shifter not the hurst dual gate. Im wanting to put a dual gate in this consol will it fit or did they take their own specific consol?

There are molded lines on the underside of the console that show you where to cut for the dual gate. Be careful, as there are also lines to cut for the four speed, so be sure you are cutting on the correct lines. Your 1971 Chassis Service Manual has a drawing that shows which ones are which. You will need the correct woodgrain and plastic insert for the top of the console to cover the hole for the original shifter, also.
