End Build Date 3/72 for 1972 W-30's

Is it correct that the last build date for all '72 W-30s was 3/72, as noted in the 1972 Oldsmobile Assembly Manual, or does anyone have documentation of a '72 W-30 being built after that date. Thanks

I think it's Oldsmobiledave on here who has a very late '72 build on his car. I did a quick search but didn't find the thread with the date that he posted.

I found in another thread that Dave has a June 72 W30 built car

While I still had access to Wild About Cars/AHPS (still getting the HTTP 403 error code), I thought the 1972 Assembly/Service Manuals noted that the W-30 package was cancelled as of 3/72, but I guess I was incorrect. Does anyone recall seeing the cancellation in any other document? It seems even if it was noted as cancelled, the notation was not carried out since they did build W-30's after 3/1972.

Anthony, I'm pretty sure Dave's 72 W30 is a June 72 build date.

I have production through June. I am missing July, but that is not to suggest they continued (or didn't continue) into July. This is from the GM Heritage Center.

Production date

My car was built June 29 1972. There was a yellow 1972 W-30 in Edmonton that had an early July build date ( I think it was July 6-7). Someone else on here stated that there was one additional W-30 built in early July but it and the Edmonton car were both automatic trans cars. The yellow Edmonton car is most likely the last X code car assembled. Mine appears to be the last 4 speed car. I know of a red 4 speed car formerly in Calgary now in BC that was built one day before mine on June 28 1972. The VIN # is approximately 600 units ahead of mine which is odd considering that there was only 1 day separation in production dates. In a strange twist of fate that car belonged to the Pastor who performed my wedding ceremony.

Lansing Fisher body ran A,B,C & E bodies down multiple lines. And I believe they go by sequence or pure numbers between all of the lines. And it's entirely possible that if the main plant was running 50 cars per hour, i don't recall what the exact number was but this is close. Baring any line shutdowns i.e. due to parts, machinery or worker issues, 400 cars per shift times 2 or 3 shifts a day!
